Coming of Age

Coming of age is the theme of Becca's part of this story. Becca is a teenager who has built her whole life around her boyfriend in a very short time. She has decided to attend the same college as her boyfriend, plans her days around when she can see him, and even spends her days waiting for his call or text message.

As time passes, and Becca is forced to get a job, she discovers that her inability to continue planning her life around Alec is causing trouble between them. Alec wants Becca's full attention, but he has little sympathy for the stresses in Becca's life. This causes tension that eventually leads to Alec cheating on Becca by kissing another girl. Becca thinks her world has fallen apart when she and Alec break up.
