Jeffery Alper

Jeffery is a teen who had cancer as a child and is in remission by the time that he is in eighth grade. Though he is officially cancer-free, he deals constantly with the worry that it will return and with the after-effects of treatments. One of those is that Jeffery is known as the kid who had cancer. Others are that he has trouble with math, walks with a limp, and has horrible handwriting. Jeffery is lacking in self-confidence and often wishes he had the bravado exhibited by his best friend, Tad.
