Chapters Four Years Ago through Hot Legs Summary

The story begins with a chapter titled, "Four Years Ago." In that chapter, Jeffery Alper says that he is in fourth grade and that everyone knows him as "The Boy Who Had Cancer." He said he tries to keep a low profile because every kid in his grade has participated in some event held as a fundraiser or to honor Jeffery.
