Summary

In Chapter 4: 12:37 a.m., we find ourselves again in Eri’s bedroom. She is still asleep and the television is still on. The man on the screen comes into focus and we see that he is wearing a strange, plastic mask. The narrator dubs him the Man with No Face, and we realize that he is staring out of the television screen and into the bedroom, like a window, right at Eri’s sleeping form.

In Chapter 5: 1:18 a.m., Kaoru walks Mari out of the hotel and asks her if she wants to go get a drink. Mari says she does not drink, but agrees to go because she has nowhere else to be. At the bar, Mari tells Kaoru that she is in college and hopes to be a Chinese translator. Kaoru things that Mari must be really smart, but Mari explains...
