Summary
In Chapter 28, Adèle goes back to work hoping to distract herself. She is disappointed to learn that her ongoing assignment in Tunisia was taken over by Bertrand, and she had missed out on covering a political coup. Richard is needy for Adèle’s care, and he constantly reminds her about their upcoming move.
In Chapter 29, Adèle takes Lucien to the park and then drops him off with Richard, who is sleeping. She leaves a note saying she is out shopping, but then goes to a strip club. She approaches a man in the audience. Another man calls her a whore. She leaves and goes home, paranoid and terrified that she is going to be found out. She misplaces her secret white phone.
In Chapter 30, Adèle puts Richard and Lucien to sleep and then goes out to dinner with Xavier...
