Chapters 11-20 Summary
Chapter 11: Amy
"More than the sound of my own beating heart, I miss the sound of a ticking clock" (Chap. 11, p. 67).
Amy wonders how much time has passed. There is no assurance that anything is happening at all. Amy thinks about Jason and how he had asked Amy to think of him when she looks at the stars.
Amy begins to hear noises, as if something is cracking. Amy feels like she has shifted in the glass box. Is she waking up? Is she melting? Is she dreaming? It becomes clear that the ice has begun to melt.
Chapter 12: Elder
Doc finds Elder in the garden. He prepares to contact Eldest but he does not. Elder says he is admiring the statue of the Plague Eldest.
