Summary
Chapter 16 – The next morning, after a dream recreating his near-death experience in hospital with AIDS, Gerald oversleeps and is rushed onto the van for the ride to rehearsal. He he forgets everything – his watch, his makeup, the kimono he wears while putting on his makeup, and his change of clothes for the opening night party. The van ride is unusually quiet, until Gerald realizes that everyone is saving their energy for the opening performance that night. When the van arrives, Gerald asks Daryl to go back to the hotel and bring the things that he had forgotten, but Daryl is so hungover that Gerald doubts that he will remember.
As the company gets set up and prepares to rehearse, Gerald banters with Enzo, who is dressed attractively in his clothes for the party, and with Bonnie, who anticipates there will be no breaks that...
