Hedley

Hedley is Control's home while he works at Southern Reach. He leaves it all behind when Southern Reach's facility is breached. Control selects Hedley because this reminds him of his father and how grounded his father made him feel. His father was the only one who ever accepted him for himself. Living in Hedley, in a place similar to his father's older home, gives Control a sense of belonging that he does not enjoy anywhere else.

Rock Bay

Rock Bay is the area that beckons the Biologist to come to it. However, the Biologist never has a chance to go. Ghost Bird manages to go to Rock Bay, and John finds her there. They both escape to Area X from Rock Bay .
