Summary
In "8,622.04," after Henry sent Michelle grocery shopping with the insurance money, he was surprised by how much she spent. When they got home and he saw her eating "with such gusto," he felt that "things were just right" (118). He was glad she had been doing better with her bulimia. He felt that they were doing well. They had made a home in their "singlewide in Indigo Hills," and he was working (118). Sometimes he disbelieved his good luck. Ever since his mom died, he expected to lose things. Therefore, "losing Michelle and all they'd built" felt inevitable (119).
