Summary

In "$16.41," Henry buys Junior a soda from the vending machine. The sounds from the neighboring room trouble him. The man with the dog pops out, trying to sell Henry his dog again. Back inside his room, Henry prepares for a shower and takes out the suit he bought for the interview. He will have to find an iron to make it look presentable. While showering, he remembers the "last time he'd taken a bath" (62). It had been with Michelle. She had urged him to join her in the tub. When she asked why they did not have sex anymore and Henry did not answer, she burst angrily out of the tub.

After Henry's shower, Junior still does not want to take a bath. Henry concedes again. While Junior finishes his movie, Henry practices for his interview, while thinking about Michelle, his parole officer, and...
