Summary

In "$89.34," Henry takes his son Junior to McDonald's for his birthday. While washing up in the bathroom, he stares at the pink hand soap and thinks of a happy memory with Michelle.

In "$89.59," Junior "slouches by the soda fountain" (5). Though Henry is worried about money, he lets him "order whatever" he wants (5). Although he has decided to splurge, it is painful for Henry to hand over his money at the register.

In "$79.00," after finding a "corner table next to the trash," Henry studies two mothers with their daughters (8). Junior does not finish his burger and asks to "go play" (9). While he is playing, Henry contemplates eating Junior's leftovers. He tells himself not to. He does not want to lose control again. Henry daydreams while watching one of the mothers..
