Chapter 19 Summary and Analysis
Hackworth felt that the politicians and generals didn't know what was really going on in the war. He began to train his battalion and implemented his own rules. At first the men complained, but after one day decided that he knew what he was doing. They were in Vietnam and he was vtrying to do what was best for them. He gave bvthem the name of Hardcore and Recondo.
Hackworth's men werevat Dong Tam. They performed well in combat. They were in the Tet Offensive of 1969. Hackworth had problems with Brigade Commander Colonel Hunt who issued orders directly to Hackworth's men bypassing him.
