Chapter 4 Summary and Analysis
Hackworth, called Hack, joined the 27th Infantry (Wolfhounds) Regiment and was assigned to the 3rd Platoon of Company G. At this point, Hackworth thought the war was lost. The American's seemed to be moving back and forth and gaining no ground. Their spirits were lifted when Captain Michaely's Task Force successfully took Suwon.
After Hack's head injury, he was flown to Pusan and transferred to the hospital ship, USS Haven. When he began to feel better he said he wanted to return to his platoon but was sent to Osaka General Hospital in Japan for tests. He returned to his unit in mid-March. The Americans were now pushing to the North. They now had winter gear.
