Chapter 29 Summary

Orannis speaks to the group, announcing that Hedge has failed her. Orannis says that the seven that are assembled have thin bloodlines and won't stand up against her power to defeat them. Lirael starts the binding spell. Each of the seven says that they stand for their bell against Orannis.

They start to sing the song that bound Orannis deep within the earth at the beginning. Just as Lirael thinks that Orannis is going to destroy all of them, Sam unleashes Mogget toward the wall of fire that is now forming a human-like shape. Lirael realizes that Yrael, which is Mogget, is the Eighth Bright Shiner. As the Destroyer retreats back into the silver hemispheres, Lirael knows that it is time for her to strike with the sword Sam has made her.

Lirael plunges the sword into the Destroyer. Dog ends up biting...
