Chapter 20 Summary

From the looks of the storm, Lirael and Sam surmise the hemispheres are at the lightning farm. As they try to make their way to the farm, droves of the Dead seem to be heading toward the farm too. Lirael sees one hemisphere has been unloaded and the other barge is being unloaded. She reaches for a bell but Dog says they are too late to stop the joining. Dog also says it's too late to save Nick because the shard inside him will burst when the hemispheres are joined.

Lirael takes the Dark Mirror into Death to see how the Destroyer was defeated at the beginning. Since her physical body stays behind, she puts Sam in charge of protecting her body while she is in Death. The Dead are coming through the gates of Death as Lirael goes through each of them...
