Chapter 13 Summary

Sam is shooting crows out of the sky. Lirael rings the Kibeth bell and more crows fall to the earth. Lirael tells Sam she lost Nick. She tells him about the sliver, the lightning farm and the bringing together of the two hemispheres. They believe this will unleash evil.

Lirael demands Dog tell them who the Destroyer is. Dog writes the name in the sand—ORANNIS. He cautions anyone from speaking the name. Dog says it's the Ninth Bright Shiner, which is the most powerful Free Magic. Lirael questions whether the Free Magic will work over the wall. Nobody knows if it will or not. She also questions how it was split in two in the first place.

Dog and Mogget say they don't remember. Lirael starts to wash the mud off from the marsh. Sam says that he thinks they should...
