Summary
50 – The author becomes increasingly, painfully both aware and jealous of Amaia’s connection to Cristina (Abandon Me, Section Two – 11), but Amaia tells her there is nothing to worry about.
51 – The author discovers email correspondence between Amaia and Cristina in which Amaia communicates with the same language and ideas as she used when communicating with the author. The author confronts her, and Amaia desperately tries to get her to see there is nothing going on. The author bookends the narrative of these events with a description of a film in which a woman is driven crazy by her husband, who engineers a set of circumstances then tells her she is imagining them.
52 – The author describes being at a conference where Amaia and Cristina are both in attendance, and at one point disappearing into a washroom and screaming with frustration. Later...
