The École Polytechnique is the school where a mass murderer opens fire on women who are studying to be engineers. Fourteen women were killed, and thirteen were injured. Later, the École Polytechnique is the setting of the graduation ceremony for Fiona. It is also where Harriet is awarded the memorial scholarship to help with her graduate work.
Arsenault Home
The Arsenault home is where Fiona and Sam lived with their mother, Clotilde. Gamache and Beauvoir go to this house to tell their children that their mother is dead. They find that the children are alone. Later, Gamache and Beauvoir find the basement room where the men had sex with Fiona and Sam.
