Summary

In Chapter 12, Robert was shocked to learn that Fiona had been found guilty of killing her mother. Gamache shared how he and Reine-Marie had begun hosting Fiona in their home when she came up for weekends away from jail. Gamache did not share that while Fiona might have killed her mother, he did not think the murder had been her idea.

The minister asked how Gamache was able to give Fiona a second chance, and if he was not worried that she was still a danger. Gamache told the minister that he did not think Fiona was ever a danger. He does not tell him that he thought it had been Sam’s plan to kill their mother or that he thought Sam had been the one to hurt himself the night he and Fiona ran away.
