Summary
In the next chapter is titled “Track.” Wander recites his mother's story regarding the pack, the mountains, and the wolf star. He briefly considers returning to his home; but, he knows his pack is gone and that he would be relegated to the role of follower. Though he is again fast, he was never the strongest. Accepting that he would not have a good life there, he decides not to return. He finds a wolf track and feels certain he has smelled this scent before, though he is not certain it is the wolf he saw at the highway. He wants to track her, but the print is large.
