Namwon Women's Reform Center

Known as Namwon Prison, this is where women are held for various crimes. Pong and Somkit are among the children who live there because their mothers are there. The children are held until their mother's sentence is finished, or until they turn 13 years-old. The prison is situated across the river from Chattana City. There is a large mango tree growing in the courtyard of the prison, but the children are not allowed to climb up to get the fruit. Pong is observant and patient, which is how he knows where Somkit needs to be to get the first mango of the season.

Chattana

Chattana is the city Pong and Somkit can see from Namwon. From that distance, Pong imagines this is an incredibly wonderful place filled with light and opportunity. When he arrives there, he discovers that only the wealthy and fortunate live like that...
