Pong
Pong is a boy who was born in Namwon Women's Reform Center. His mother died in childbirth and by the rules of Namwon, Pong was to remain in the prison until his mother's sentence was up or he turned 13 years-old. At nine, he escapes, and spends the next four years living among the monks of Tanaburi. Then, he finds himself facing the possibility of a lengthy prison term for having escaped.
Growing up in prison has naturally had an effect on Pong's character. He is patient and loyal to his best friend, Somkit. He and Somkit spend a lot of time dreaming about their futures but when the Governor reminds Pong that no one expects him to succeed outside of prison, Pong loses hope.
