Summary

In Chapter 43, Nok rushes through the protesters, carrying her spire-fighting staff. She is searching for Pong. She finds Somkit handing out orbs and ensuring they all work correctly. Nok is surprised at the number of gold orbs and Somkit reveals he made them. Nok tells Somkit the Governor plans to arrest everyone, even if it is a lawful, peaceful gathering. Somkit is clearly worried but refuses to consider leaving. Nok watches at the windows on the West Side begin to close, a symbol the people of the West Side do not want to see what happens on the bridge.

In Chapter 44, Pong reaches the city and encounters a barricade of police boats. An officer tells Pong that no one can pass into the city. Pong desperately identifies himself as a runaway from Namwon, and says he will turn himself in only to Officer...
