Summary

In Chapter 7, the author writes about how critical Republicans were towards Trump during the early stages of Trump’s presidential campaign. However, after Trump gained the party nomination and then won the election, many of these critics changed into supporters. This atmosphere of unquestioning support has helped to fuel the many negative aspects of Trump’s presidency. The author again frames this dynamic in terms of the Steady State. As Trump’s presidency has progressed, Trump has fired most people who have expressed any type of disagreement with him, and he has replaced them with people who either do whatever he says, or who generally neglect their jobs.
