Summary

In Chapter Twenty-five, the Empire forces are quiet which Gwen and the other Silesians find almost more ominous than the fighting. Although Gwen knows that she did well in fending off Andronicus’ army as well as she did, she still feels like a failure. Andronicus suddenly calls for Gwendolyn out of the stillness. He makes an offer telling her that if she will surrender, he will leave the people of Silesia alone and allow them to live in peace in his kingdom. He warns that if he does not get an answer from Gwen by the following morning, he will destroy the city and all its inhabitants. Srog, Kendrick, Steffen, and Kolk all warn Gwen that Andronicus is lying, they do not want her to serve Andronicus on their behalf.
