Summary

In Chapter Seven, Erec is continuing to fight, but he is getting tired. Suddenly, he sees a group of soldiers attacking from behind. He realizes that it is his own people. Brandt rides up to fight beside Erec. The fight continues until the lord’s army is attacked by Covenies. They know the only way these creatures could have gotten into the area is if the Shield is down. The lord’s army flees. Erec and his men ride back to Silesia to seal the gates.

In Chapter Eight, Kendrick is proud of the work that he is doing to fortify the walls of outer cities. He is ready to get back home to his sister Gwen to help her oust Gareth. He has been having nightmares of his town burning. A boy calls him telling him that there is something strange coming...
