Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy symbolizes the vulnerability of the human body. Titania and Oberon recognize that the boy's chemotherapy treatment is the only thing that can save him, but also something that by itself is poisonous to his body. Oberon, especially, is intrigued by the medicine, and does not understand how it can have such disparate effects.
Beastie
The Beastie symbolizes unconditional love. The Beastie is a vague, flat, headless animal that serves as the boy's living blanket while in the hospital. His primary purpose is to comfort those around him. When the boy dies, the Beastie also dies from his grief, suggesting that the loss of the boy has destroyed his purpose for living altogether.

The tiny feast symbolizes familial love. When the boy undergoes a change in his treatment that makes him ravenously hungry, the doctors tell Titania and Oberon that he is not...
