Summary

Chapter 40

Cady and Toby arrive at the convention center. Cady is upset that Miss Mallory isn’t there yet. She wants her to show up so she can declare the adoption with Toby official.

Chapter 41

Marigold is outside, practicing a variety of different Talents. Zane shows up and she confronts him about the theft. She becomes upset when he insults her, and ends up pushing him into the road, right into oncoming traffic.

Cady once again expresses that her relationship with Toby is going well. She believes that Toby can finally be the father that she has been searching for. Cady is afraid because she’s worried that Miss Mallory won’t show up to make it official.
