Summary

Chapter 10

This chapter starts a week later, with Cady having just finished her trial run with Toby. Cady is making a cake for Toby. She’s worried that he might not be happy, even though the week has gone well. Cady runs into Mrs. Asher, who is moving in some of V’s items. The Ashers have had to move into The Owner’s emporium after the hot air balloon damaged their apartment. Cady and Toby live there as well. Mrs. Asher assures Cady that everything is fine with Toby and he seems happy. Cady runs into the merchant from the prologue, who talks about how mysterious fate can be. And then he vanishes.

V starts to settle into life in the emporium. She remembers what it was like when she was a child, when the building was a peanut butter factory...
