Summary

Chapter 9 is titled “Madame Weatherberry's Academy of Magic.” They leave the In-Between and travel to the eastern border of the Southern Kingdom before reentering the In-Between. This time, the unicorns take the carriage into the forest, pausing only when confronted by a magic hedge that eventually parts, giving them room to pass. They are amazed when they arrive at the estate and Brystal compares it to being inside a painting. They see birds and butterflies, but discover they are pixies and gryphons. The castle is incredible and Madame Weatherberry decides that the name of the school will be “Madame Weatherberry's Academy of Magic” (213). After all the names she considered, she decides that a simple name is better. When they leave the carriage, Madame Weatherberry introduces them to her apprentices, Tangerina and Skylene, and the housekeeper, Mrs. Vee, who rushes to hug them. Madame...
