Chapter 1, Prologue: Chett Summary

Chett is a member of a hunting party that is trying to track a bear using dogs. They are part of a group of soldiers called the Night's Watch who guard the Wall, a stronghold in the North Lands. Three hundred of the Watch are riding north to find rangers who have gone missing and discover why the wildings were leaving their village. They have made camp in the Fist of the First Men, an ancient fort. Chett speaks with the other members of the party about their plot to kill the officers of the watch. Chett is bitter towards Jon Snow and his friend Sam Tarly. Chett was a steward to a man named Master Aemon before Jon Snow got Sam Tarly to take over as steward.
