Chapter 8, Trent Summary

As Bink gathers his courage and sets out into Mundania, he is attacked by a group of men who take him to Trent. He explains why he was banished, but Trent offers him a chance to return to Xanth if he will give Trent the exact location of the Shield. Bink does not believe this is possible, but Trent tells him that there is a plant growing near the Shield that suppresses magic, which would render the Shield powerless. Trent also points out that they have something in common in that they have both been wronged by the powers that be in Xanth. Trent's army could invade Xanth, after destroying the Shield, so he could take the throne.
