Chapters 111 - 115 Summary
Dirk speaks with eloquence and confidence about Ladyburg's politics. He knows these men are politically faithful and committed. Sean Courtney has held the seat since 1910, one reminds him, but Dirk assures them that as their party representative, he is willing to put his own money in to assure victory. He gives them his vision of fields supplied with unending water, and their interest grows. It will mean the repeal of the proclamation on the Bubezi Valley, but none bats an eye of concern. He refers to his father as the Butcher of Fordsburg and when one man stands up and voices his opinion to the contrary, he is quickly removed, and Dirk continues.
