Chapters 96 - 100 Summary
Dirk manipulates a meeting with Mark. He offers Mark a thousand pounds to submit a report that states Chaka's Gate as a National Park is not practical. Mark wants three thousand pounds - his rightful inheritance and Dirk hands it over. Sean is livid until Mark explains. Then Mark decides to tell Sean about the death of his grandfather, the theft of Andersland and the attempts on his life. Soon after, Mark leaves riding Trojan and leading Spartan. He hears the warning call of a leopard and notices a leopard caught in a trap. The leopard leaps and Mark shoots just in time, killing it. He hobbles the mule and sets off on foot, tracking the poacher he names Pungushe (jackal). By the time he returns, the leopard is stripped, and the trap and chain are gone. Trojan is also gone...
