Chapters 66 - 70 Summary
When Fergus gets home, he calls an emergency meeting. The police arrive at dawn and Fergus commands them to stop. The lead officer announces they have a warrant and will come in by force. Fergus is so eager to fight that he pulls his revolver and fires the agreed upon signal, then shoots the officer in cold blood. In Johannesburg, the only one to slip out is Harry Fisher. He climbs to the roof and counts twenty prisoners.
Mark gives the chauffeur instructions, waiting for Sean who tells him he'll want to see him directly after Jan Smut's speech. When the Rolls pulls away, he sneaks up to Storm's studio to steal a glimpse of her latest canvass, and is so engrossed he doesn't hear her come in.
