Chapters 26 - 30 Summary
For five days, most of their time is spent in bed. On the fifth, a letter arrives from Fergus, and guilt hits him like a fist. He goes to the station and buys a ticket to Durban. Mark knows he can't return to Ladyburg until he finds out who put a price on his head. It can only be because of Andersland. He pens a letter to the woman he met in the Ladyburg Companies office, without a word as to the information he wants yet. The next morning he goes to the library and finds the first mention of Dirk Courtney in 1900. The article refers to the return of Colonel Sean Courtney, with his ten-year-old son, Dirk.
