Chapters 16 - 20 Summary
Hobday informs Dirk Courtney of his encounter with Mark Anders. Dirk listens, and asks Hobday to wait while Ronald and Dennis voice their panic, accusing Dirk of having jumped too soon. He reminds them of the wealth he's brought into the Farmers Bank, and tells them to leave it to him.
Mark approaches the bank but they are closing so he camps along the Stroom Banks, and finds himself hunted by a group of men. He runs for his life. The train is just leaving Ladyburg, and he grabs the last rail as it passes. He crawls towards the front and notices a Zulu man who shares his blanket, and Mark dozes until the train slows. Uneasily, Mark looks ahead to see a truck with lights on and men waiting. He hops off as the train slows, and hears the men...
