Summary
Izzy pushes Bex out of the Center in a wheelchair. She is supposed to go back inside after but considers saving herself. She feels “suspended between what could be, and what was” (134). She thinks about growing up poor and being different from other families and having made her way through nursing school on scholarships. She knows if she tells Parker about the pregnancy, he will want to take care of her. She wants the chance to support herself. She goes back into the Center to take care of Louie.
Before the EMTs can take Bex away, Hugh says he needs to talk to her in private. Bex tells Hugh that Wren is inside and hiding. He tells her not to tell anyone his daughter is inside. He asks why Bex brought Wren there. She tells him Wren wanted birth control.
