Summary
Hugh had been talking to the gunman for hours and had thought he could reason with him, but there is another gunshot. Hugh remembers a time when he had saved Wren after she fell off a dock. Captain Quandt tells Hugh they have to engage. Hugh has not told him that Wren is inside. He reasons that one shot does not equate to active gunfire. When Quandt still wants to go in, Hugh tells him Wren is in the Center. Quandt tries to tell Hugh he cannot work the case, but Hugh refuses to go.
Bex is lying in the hospital thinking of Hugh. He has always been a responsible person, declaring himself the man of the house when their father died. Bex had always tried to help him with his burdens without being noticed. That was the reason she had agreed...
