Chapter 8 Summary

Evie cuts bangs that cover the lettering on her forehead. Her father is pleased, and says he knew she would come to her senses if just left her alone. She throws away her black clothes and the drawing and the photos she has of Drum. In the Tar City newspaper, she sees a review of his show that calls him "strictly amateur." She visits Violet, and tells her she cannot believe how silly she has been to chase after Drum. She tells Violet that her father will be taking over another teacher's class at the high school next term. About a week after her parting with Drum, she is at home when Clotelia announces a visitor.
