Summary

“The Meeting” takes place at the pub known as The Arms. Harry asks Ronnie if it is true that he “locked that young lad into a house and left him” (21). Others arrive, including Stoker and Stan. The group is there for a political meeting. Prentice talks to Harry about whether Harry is Jewish (he is not) and how that would be good for the group because the group does not want to appear “anti-Semitic” (214). Others in the group arrive. Prentice asks Harry if the pub stopped serving food because of mice. Harry defends that the “kitchen is pristine” (217). Later, Harry locks up, sweeps, and cleans up. Harry dreams about a mouse working in the bar. The next night, the group returns to the pub. John and Harry talk about golf. Harry closes up and feels something brush across his feet...
