Summary

“The Pigeon” is about a plumber’s apprentice called Pigeon. Pigeon meets up with Ronnie, and they get coffee before going to work on a bathroom for “a lady who left them a pile of cheese sandwiches on the kitchen table every day” (186). Pigeon and Ronnie talk about expensive cars and climate change. As they work on the bathroom, Pigeon remembers pieces of his dream, including the snow, being cold, and ants. Pigeon thinks about how he sleeps in the nude, resulting in being “naked and outdoors” (190) in his dreams. Pigeon thinks about his brother Daniel and how his mother would say that “Pigeon has the looks. Daniel has the brains” (191). Pigeon thinks about how his mother would tell him that he was raised by pigeons and that he was named Pigeon because of a cooing sound he made as a baby. However...
