Point of View
“A Shade of Vampire” by Bella Forrest is written in the first person point of view, through the eyes of the two main characters, Sofia Claremont and Derek Novak. The Epilogue, a short teaser, is written through the eyes of Vivienne Novak. The use of first person in the story works well in that the reader is able to understand the modern world of vampires and their victims through the eyes of the characters. The reader is taken on a journey along with Sofia and is enabled to see inside the mind of the young girl as she wends her way through a complicated case of vampires, murder, and betrayal.
The use of first person makes the story seem slightly less fantastic to the point that the reader can grasp what the future might be like if vampires were real. Sofia experiences a foreign world...
