Summary

Chapter 26: Derek

Derek takes a walk to clear his head. It only leads to more confusion. He returns to the Pavilion to find Sam and Kyle waking up on the floor. Derek is told that Ben is unconscious in the Sun Room. Derek rushes in to find Sofia, half naked, pinned against the wall. Lucas is feeding on her. Derek goes mad with rage. Lucas laughs until he realizes that Derek means to kill him.

Sofia asks Derek not to kill Lucas. Sofia says Derek will come to believe it is her fault and hate her. Derek allows Lucas to run away. Derek says he has no choice but to allow Sofia to leave the Shade.

Chapter 27: Sofia

Derek allows Sofia and Ben to leave.

Ben continues to look at Derek with contempt. Sofia realizes how badly she wants to go home.
