Epilogue: The Second Death Summary and Analysis
Van has a vision in which he turns to find Davy, grinning. He revels in a hug and their conversation. She says she cannot tell him everything, but is with him when he feels her, and has read all of his letters. They hold each other.
Two weeks later, he sails to England. He sends Davy's rings to the depths of the sea, and feels an urgent need to get to Oxford, so cancels his plans for London. He immediately feels Davy there in the familiar sights and smells. He writes to Lewis who has married Joy Davidman, dying of bone cancer. Van visits them frequently, joining them in prayer for her recovery.
