Summary
The Book of Morwen begins in 1910 at Morgan Hall, where Irene lives with Lord Llewelyn. Morwen, her daughter, is nearly sixteen and out riding Ynyr, who she has a special connection with. Morwen’s family are outcasts from society because of her mother’s background, but Morwen does not care. She prefers riding Ynyr to sipping tea in parlors. In the beginning of the Book of Morwen, Morwen is considering riding to the Old Beaupre Castle, a 14th century church, having had a dream about the place. Morwen and Ynyr travel to the castle and Morwen walks up the stairs into a destroyed room, open to the air. As Morwen is leaving the castle, she sees an old crone. “I wanted to lay my eyes on you, Miss Morwen,” the old woman says (241). “One more time before I die...
