Chapter 42 Summary

"Gone Fishing"

Tully takes a ride on Mr. Twain. He remembers a story that Cleopatra had told him about Donald Diamond, whom they call "Donald the Turd." Donald wanted to sell off the family land to build luxury condominiums. A cigarette boat comes by named PAR-T-ANIMAL, speeds by and Cleopatra, clearly annoyed, asks for her gun - an M16 - and shot the engine of the boat with everyone on board swimming for their lives. He comes to an understanding of why Cleopatra fired him; otherwise, he knows he wouldn't have left the island and he knows it's time to go.

Chapter 42 Analysis

While he was initially taken back by Cleopatra's firing of him, Tully now understands that Cleopatra has made his next step much easier. He can move on and know it is the right thing to do.
