Barack Obama
Barack Obama is the 44th president of the United States and the first African American to hold this office. A Promised Land is Obama's memoir describing his early life through his first term as president until the capture and death of Osama bin Laden.
Obama was born in Hawaii where he was raised by a single mother and his two grandparents. Obama spends a large portion of his youth living in Indonesia as well when he moves to Jakarta with his mother. He describes himself as a normal teenager who played sports and spent the time idling with his friends. Obama's early life gives few, if any, indications that he will be president.
