Summary

In chapter 22 Obama describes how his administration has been facing tough criticism from Republicans, the media, and the constituency as the fallout from the subprime mortgage crisis continues to take its toll on American society. However, in March 2010, unemployment statistics indicate that jobs and the economy are recovering. Despite these positive signs, the Greek debt crisis in Europe threatens to once again destabilize the world financial system. Obama describes the financial arrangement of the E.U. and the significance of Greek sovereign debt to the welfare of the world financial system. Along with Sarkozy and Merkel, Obama is able to help broker an agreement with the E.U. and the IMF in order to bail out Greece.
