Jones Summary

Lanik can travel fast when he is in quick time, which slows down outer time and lets him move fast. Lanik goes to a nearby town in the Family of Jones. There, he talks to a variety of people, trying to learn from whomever he meets. He points out to an innkeeper that his name is Lanik Mueller, which always causes an uproarious reaction because of the harm Lanik's double has done. Lanik sees a carriage with a middle-aged man in it, but an instant later, it is Mbwao Mowa. This foreshadows the deception that Lanik will soon uncover. Lanik leaves his horse with a stabler and escapes in quick time just as Mbwao Mowa comes looking for him. The stabler keeps his secret under pain of death.
